There are Bachs about us.

It is not for a composer to say if she/he is great or no, performers are the ones who will decide if his/her music will thrive and survive over time. I find it amusing though, when I hear people complain that there are no Bachs or Mozarts or Beethovens anymore. In one sense, of course not, there was only one J.S. Bach. In another sense, the sense that there are no good composers anymore: that is a thought born of ignorance. The great composers of today have not benefitted by hundreds of years of performances and good press, so these people simply don’t know about them. How could they?
